Hey, Reader!

I want to focus on value during our few minutes together this week.

At the bottom of this email, there's a poll where you can tell me what is more valuable for you to read each week. I want to know what will help you the most.

I enjoy sharing stories and strategies from my 25 years of building companies, and I love talking about auctions and the liquidation business. When you get to the bottom of this message, tell me what is more valuable to you.

What is Value?

As I see it, value is something you give without expecting to get something in return.

We give value to our customers, our clients, our spouses, our kids, neighbors and friends. If we don't provide value, we fail. And I am not just talking about financial success.

Here are my tips on adding value and how doing so built the foundation for my success.

Go First.

Be the first person to be generous in business and your personal life. When you start with generosity, it sets the foundation for trust and loyalty. People remember those who provide value without any hidden agenda.

Value Creates Reciprocity.

When you give first and without expectations, it creates a natural sense of reciprocity. This inspires others to want to return the favor down the road.

When I started posting on earlier this year, I had no idea what I was doing (and still don't), but people responded positively to my stories and strategies, so I kept at it.

I focused on adding value each day. I still do it. I don't know exactly where this will lead, but I love helping others find ways to lead an uncommon life.

In January, I had 541 followers, and today I have 34,429.

Last week, I wanted to give a tip about the time of day to post on . Kevin Bell responded with this:

The law of reciprocity - it's not about you or me. The more you give, the more will come back to you.

Build Relationships - Not Transactions.

When you focus on delivering value, it creates deeper, longer lasting relationships with your followers and clients.

Trust Before the Sale.

People do business with those they trust. You build that trust by helping and adding value first.

Givers Gain.

What you give comes back to you in unexpected ways. It may not be immediate or direct, but like a boomerang, value always has a way of finding its way back.

I've given away hundreds of copies of my books and guides to subscribers of Unconventional Entrepreneur. Will I get anything back? I already have - the emails and messages keep coming in, fueling me up to create more.

Be Different. Be Unconventional.

When you give value first, it helps you stand out in a crowded market. When most people are asking for something, being the one who gives freely makes you memorable.

Here's your chance to tell me what is most valuable to you:

Thanks for hanging out with me for a few minutes today.

Have a great week!
